When you want to share your location with someone, you can do so by tapping on the “Share Location” button on your iPhone. This will open up a dialog where you can choose who you want to share your location with. If you don’t know the exact address of the person you want to share your location with, or if they have not granted permission for their phone to broadcast their location, then the sharing process won’t work.

You can send your current location to someone via Messages, Contacts, Google Maps or Apple Maps. Depending on the app, you can send your current location just once or share your location for a period of time – which is useful if you’re on the go and want someone to be able to find you wherever you are, for example.
When Share My Location is on, you can share your location with friends, family and contacts on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with Find My. You can also share your location in the Find People app on watchOS 6 or later with Apple Watch models that have GPS and cell phone and are paired with your iPhone.
If you have not yet configured Family Sharing and Location Sharing, your family members will automatically appear in Find My if they are within a certain radius of your device.
