How to Save WebP Pictures as JPG or PNG in Chrome Browser – Guide
Google’s WebP image format offers lossless images compared to PNG and JPG. The company claims that WebP is 26% smaller than PNG and about 25-34% smaller than a JPG without sacrificing overall quality. As advanced as it looks on paper, WebP remains second. PNG and JPG are the industry standard and if you get stuck with a WebP image, you will need to convert it to JPG or PNG format on Windows or Mac. Many applications and services on the web do not support WebP and often experience errors when uploading a WebP file. Windows:
- Open the default image viewer application on your computer.
- Locate the WebP image you want to save as a JPG or PNG.
- Right-click on the image and hover over “Save Image as Type” at the bottom of the menu.

- Open Google Chrome and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the browser window.
