How to Rollback to Old WhatsApp Status on Android – Guide

WhatsApp has just released a number of new features, including video calling, two-step authentication, and the new “Status” function. Some people are not fans of the new Status feature because it is similar to Instagram Stories, which was a copy of Snapchat Stories. If you’re using an unsupported device, you can install an older WhatsApp APK to recover the old status. I have tried several older versions of WhatsApp and the one that worked for me is 2.17.60. You can simply download this WhatsApp version from APKMirror and install it.

If you have not set up your WhatsApp account yet, please do so now. After that, you should see the oldest WhatsApp home page with no Status tab on it.

WhatsApp is planning to remove support for older versions of the app soon, so there is a workaround that should work with most versions of the app. ..

Get old WhatsApp status on rooted devices

To recover old WhatsApp status on a rooted Android device, you will need to first root your device. Additionally, you will need to be sure that you have the latest WhatsApp version. If you do not have WhatsApp, you can try this workaround but it may not work. If the process does not work for you, then you can download the latest WhatsApp version from APKMirror.

  1. Open ES File Explorer and navigate to the WhatsApp folder.
  2. Drag and drop the old WhatsApp status file into the ES File Explorer window.
  3. Rename the old WhatsApp status file to your desired new name.
  4. Close ES File Explorer and reopen it to continue using your new WhatsApp status file name.

Now, open up WhatsApp and tap on the three lines in the top left corner. Then, select “End“.

ES File Explorer or the file manager you are using should be enabled “Root Explorer”. In ES File Explorer, you will find it in the left sidebar. The app may ask you to select the appropriate permissions for Root Explorer, choose “RW” for everything.

Once that’s done, open up the device files. In ES File Explorer, you can tap “Local” in the sidebar, then tap “Device“. When the “Device” folder is opened up, go to the data->data->com.whatsapp->shared_prefs folder. ..

In the “shared_prefs” folder, tap the “com.whatsapp_preferences.xml” file to open it up. You will be asked to choose the editor to open the file. You can choose “ES Note Editor” or the text editor that comes with the file manager you are using. When the file opens up, click on the three-dot menu button and tap on the “Edit” option.

In the “com.whatsapp_preferences.xml” file, you should find the text that says “status mode” value=”1″. When you find it, just change the “1” to “0”. Make sure you don’t edit anything else. After that, save the XML file.

If you want to keep your WhatsApp status the same even when you’re not using it, just open the WhatsApp app and click on the “Status” tab. You’ll find the Calls, Chats, and Contacts tab just like before. Just tap on the “Status” option to set a new WhatsApp text status.
