How to Install Windows 11 in a Virtual Machine – Guide

To use a virtual machine, you need to have a Windows 10 computer and a virtualization software program like VMware or Microsoft Virtual PC. You can also use a Windows 10 computer with Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.0 pre-installed, but that’s not as good of an option because the virtualization software won’t work as well.

To install Windows 11 on a virtual machine, you will need to first create a new VM and use one of the many VM applications available. We will show you how to install Windows 11 on VMWare Workstation Player, a free application. However, unlike the $99 VMWare Workstation Pro, the Player does not support TPM, which is a requirement for Windows 11. Oracle VirtualBox, another free option, will add TPM support but it doesn’t now.

Windows 11 does not support the use of a VPN with TPM, so you will need to follow our guide about how to use the third method in order to create an ISO that ignores the TPM requirements.

Your host computer must have at least 8GB of RAM and a quad-core CPU to run the VM.

How to Install Windows 11 on the virtual machine

To use VMware Workstation Player, you must first download and install it.

To create a Windows 11 ISO file, you will need to use the Windows 11 ISO creation tool Aveyo’s Universal MediaCreationTool. This tool will automatically disable TPM detection on your system and create a Windows 11 ISO file for you.
